Does anyone know which car sidesteps could easily be adapted on the VX? Tubular would look better I think? Please give me a hint so I can look over here. Cheers!

Talk to member PK. He's got some brackets to mount NERF bars but I'm not sure if he ever located the bars themselves.

These were made by Luverne but I don't know a model #. Anybody know?

Just an FYI....PK in Tasmania wanted to buy the chrome ones I had.....but it was just too much money to ship them. I even got a quote from one of those bidding type shipping sites...still was in the $300 USD range IIRC, vs FedEx and UPS which were around $500+ USD. Now if money's no object......you can get-R-done.

it's way harder to get parts and people willing to help here in Australia. Frustrating. For a hassle free/cheap solution, i decided to go for the Nerf sigle steps, easy to fit, and my little daughter are the ones that need them anyway, i'll post photos after i receive them and install.

:_brickwal...I'm still kicking myself.

I had the Luverne side bars from Tone, and beat the living $#*^ out
of them at Moab.

So I took them off and built rock rails...
...and threw the Luvernes away...

..with the brackets still on them :_mecker:

What a dumb A.$.$ !

Yikes! I had dibs on these back when I first learned of the wreck. But I've since moved on to Tom4Bren's.

JAMAS, here's your chance. ;)

Buffy, do they still have brackets? And Tom4Bren, do you NEED the brackets to make life easier as you fabricate your new ones? If "no" to either, then you can skip the rest.

If "yes" to both, I volunteer to fund all shipping between you two so that these can be produced in quantity. All I ask is that other interested buyers please be patient to afford others the opportunity.

Remember, the BARS are easily acquired - there are many models available. The brackets are hard to come by, and this seems like a great opportunity to fix that.

Cheers,

I'll have the opportunity to drop off the brackets from my other set with Tom sometime in the next few weeks if you guys can wait until then. I'm hoping he'll have a hitch ready for me to install at the same time. ;)

Rekin I need to head down Buffy's way to pick up that rear door before he gets reeeeeel tired of my procrastination & dumps it.:) It's only about a 4 hour drive ... each way.

Settle down, Eternal. ;)

ALL of us are waiting. LOL

But trust me, once we achieve the breakthrough, I'm sure these will be a LOT easier to come by thanks to the collective efforts of quite a few people.

Did we ever ascertain the model number of the bars?

Vendetta

Did we ever ascertain the model number of the bars?

We have a very high confidence in the model number from Luverne (which Tone spec'ed) and several other lower cost third-party equivalents.

Once Tom4bren and I finish off this project, we'll put together a full installation detail thread, as we will with the safari bar kit. Rather than clutter and potentially mislead others with unconfirmed model numbers, we'll hold off until we're 100% sure.

Stay tuned.

I've opted for a fast "plug and play"solution, installed today in 2 hous these Bully matte black sidesteps, it matches the cladding and the car as a whole, very happy with the final result and won't be messing wish brackets and adapting anything, Australia is a very lonely place to be when the matter is a VX...
Functional because my kids use to go to the backseat, don't need anything longer than that.

and as promissed, i took some shots of Andrew's ongoing car projects, Landcruiser, Jags (some aren't in the photos) Austin Healey, Minis, etc.

Not yet, but I believe we're pretty close at this point. Expect to see a "definitive" thread similar to the one for the safari bars (http://vehicross.info/forums/showthread.php?t=22249) before too long.

Cheers,
