View Full Version : Similarities to the VX

My age may have the most to do with why I have never seen one before, but I can't help seeing a slight VX side profile in the late Honda Z600 coupe.

There was one in the Jan. 12 edition of Automobile in the Upshift classifieds section with blacked out wheels/tires and side exhaust which made it look much meaner.

I didn't know much of anything about this model until the article and am surely not trying to compare the VX to something inferior!

Since I can not locate that picture, maybe this one:
http://www.google.com/imgres?q=honda+z600+coupe&num=10&um=1&hl=en&biw=1600&bih=799&tbm=isch&tbnid=gNDIcXIErxGUtM:&imgrefurl=http://www.honda600coupe.com/&docid=qFOWIFBNTHsjRM&imgurl=http://www.honda600coupe.com/photos/drivers_side.jpg&w=800&h=477&ei=vA_pTsroMtOUtwfqqujECg&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=291&sig=112873935049492946357&sqi=2&page=1&tbnh=104&tbnw=174&start=0&ndsp=28&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:0&tx=106&ty=58

Where I grew up we called this Honda the "scuba mask"...cuz the way the back window has such a prominent black rubber gasket. Anybody else hear of that nickname?

I always get excited when I see the Hyaundai Santa Fe from a distance because I think it looks like a VX from the front a little bit. Just with the way the hood rises us right behind each of the headlights and such and having the grey plastic on the bottom half of its face. It nearly always tricks me from afar...

Are you guys nuts or just smokin' some good dubage? They are both yellow, they both have four wheels, they both have two doors and they both have windows; oh look, its a Ford Escape Sport! It's a Porsche 911! It's a Mazda RX8! It's a Mini Cooper! It's a ... (Insert your dillusion here!) You get the idea, all cars are similar in many regards. If Rosie O'Donnel wasn't so fat, and if her eyes weren't so far apart, and if she had a prettier mouth, and if her hair was longer, and... she'd look like Angelina Jolie! Give me a break...:p

had a buddy that had one in high school and he used to pull in behind a tractor trailer and he could take his foot off the gas and it would pull him along with it, course in retrospect not the smartest move.

Yea...Shiro Nakamura .

But IIRC..Simon Cox headed up design for the prototype..
...and Nakamura was lead for the production VX.

Pretty sure that was the one in Automobile's magazine, that I was talking about. It was said that one that was not modified could have gone for more.

Was thinking about downsizing the Armada that the wife drives for a Juke as well. Went to the dealer a few days ago to get a brochure. Think it might look better with rugged oversized tires and a few other mods. I think it has...potential. Just my take.

However, I'm keeping my VX.

To me, it looks more like a Vega from the front.

Scott Larson

Kinda, but the Vega wasn't so fat in the face, it had a lower profile! I always liked the Vega Cosworth...

It might look good but bigger tires would ruin a Juke. The Juke's gearing, HP, suspension & FWD would not fair well with bigger tires. I think you would be better off lowering it & adding stiffer springs :_confused. Although I would love to see a Juke with big mud terrains cruising down the road :).

Saw that the other day. That's awesome. Too bad it would be really expensive, just like the GTR, if they ever made it. It would be cool if they made a 300+ hp all wheel drive Juke with a proper 6 speed though.
