YES; for metal skid plates, see Post #6 in the below thread. Kilby Enterprises (www.KilbyStore.com) still makes the only metal skid plates (3-skid "Belly Pan") available for the VX on a "Special Order" basis only.

For detailed pictures, please see the Photo Gallery of fellow member "VX-KAT". In the near future, there may possibly be a slightly used set in perfect condition available by fellow member "VT-MAVERICK" (he'll announce its availabilty in due time accordingly).

I've got the custom Kilby skid plates and the Rocky Road SuperSliders.
Just got the sliders installed a little while ago, and haven't actually taken any good pics....:_thinking...how's that possible?.....I'm a picture pig (remember Zeus!?)

I have a few from last month when I got the Nitto Terra Grapplers installed, they're not close up though. I'll take some soon and post.

I've got the ABS plastic rear skid plate, and then a 24" "superbumper" in the hitch receiver. (yeah, looks weird....provides some good protection though)

Are the Supersliders any good as a step bar or are they too close to the body? Does anybody still make the ABS skid plates? Thanks everyone for the info.

The SuperSliders are too close to the body to step on, and are even tipped upward. Totally different than the step bar ...which outer edge sticks out about 4-5" from the body, and they have a flat orientation so you can step on them. (VT_Maverick has the LuVerne side steps and a few others I can't recall right now.)

The ABS skid plates were made by a forum member named "Ron", but he hasn't made them for several years now. BUT another member (Rowhard) got the molds and now makes the front and rear in FIBERGLASS.
here's his info:

My Stric9 sliders have held up to the abuses I have put them through and make great steps. Unfortunately they are no longer available. However, if you take a picture to any local/garage offroad fabricator they should be able to whip up a pair similar for under $400.

96 (IIRC)Trooper skid plates..the triple "bolt on" set..work well for me....
....($60-$80 used at your local auto graveyard.)

...and a local weld/fab shop should be able to put a sliders -step bar configuration together to your design for $350-$500.

I can send you pics of mine if ya wanna mod the design to include step bars too.

Let me know.

Yeah, send me some pics. My wife wants step bars, but I would rather have the slider look. There is a fab shop not far from my body shop and he can usually make what I ask from pictures, he made a set of bumpers for my 74 Bronco a few years ago.

Will do...

Mine are straight up sliders/rails with twin rails, one on seam, other under cladding edge.
But could easily handle the addition of step bars....

My welder dude quoted me $425-$500 when I gave him the napkin scribble.....

..and afterwards, said he'd never do another set for less than $650!

BTW..74 bronco...

Just sold a 73 I'd had for 17-18 years :(

I'll get on it tomorrow..do ya want PM or E-mail?

Seems that maybe with all the pics Billy & Kat put up, plus the ones from my gallery...

...you may have all the "food for thought" ya need.

I have a 1.25 inch square tube running along the seam..
..and 4.5 x 1.5 'girder' (:p ) under outboard edge..sticking out about 2 inches.

Tube and girder are joined at 3 points with 1.25 tube..
...and the whole assembly is welded to frame in 3 places
with gusseted 1.25 tube.

I would think an additional step hoop welded to the outside edge ( of girder, or tube rail as on Kats )
and angled up as much as possible for clearance would provide a solution for both you and your better half desires!

I'll get other pics of mine if you need them...just let me know.
