I am watching it on TV today and remembering that terrible day.
10 years ago, I was at work and had just turned the television on and the news was reporting that a plane hit one of the world trade center buildings. I saw the building burning. Never been to New York and the world trade center, I did not know the size of the buildings. I thought it was a small prop plane that hit the building. Moments later, I watched the 2nd jet go into the 2nd building. Fire and debris flying every where. One of the most shocking experiences of my life.
My thoughts and prayers goes out the the families and friends of those lost that day.

I just got back to my hotel room after racing the Superfrog triathon. This race is put on by the Navy SEALs on Coronado Island were they train the SEAL operators. In honor of 9/11 they had the SEAL paracute team drop in before the start, had the SEAL color gaurd present the colors for the national anthem and then had a moment of silence while a bagpiper played taps while the waves of the ocean crashed in the background...very moving.

I'll never forget.
In many ways, my nerves were still raw and hadn't healed from the OKC bombing 5 years before. This was just another level of incomprehensible, inhuman indecency added to an already open wound. I'll never forgive those who made my best friend's dad cry. He's passed on now, but we shared the same 9/11 birthday. When he called me to say "hi" that year, this disgusting event made the strongest man I ever knew - a Vietnam veteran - break down. I hate that he had to spend one of his last years in a world where something like this happened.
I'll never forget - or forgive - that. Rest in peace, Al (my 2nd Dad), from one of us "Yo-yos."
