So I'm thinking about some procomp steelies. 16.5 rims, 6 on 5.5, 4" backspacing, 6.75" width or 8.25"?

The I want to wrap them with some 16.5 military tires if I can find them under 32".

Now my questions are:
will those wheels fit the VX?
are there tires made that are military rim size but only 32"?
is this a stupid idea?
If I'm an idiot tell me, if not...let's get this done!

Those mil tires will have a harsh ride. The sidewapps are very stiff. I have seen them aired down to 5psi on the trail and you could hardly tell the differance from when they were full of air.

I was also looking at the military tires route for a little while, since they come in a 36" and 37"s for about $100 a tire. Decided against it since I didn't think 37's would fit and didn't like the 36's tread design. There is a company that recenters H1 beadlock wheels for whatever bolt pattern and backspacing you want if you are looking for other options on 16.5 wheels. http://www.trailworthyfab.com/Custom-Hummer-Wheels/

I think I'll just go the conventional tire route :) probably 255/75/16. A little bigger, wider, and doesn't kill my mileage...I hate compromises!
