I know us VXers wave to each other due to the extreme rarety of the vehicle.....

...but a Jeep wave!!!???!!??!

Witnessed it on my way home for lunch today.

In keeping with this cardinal rule of Jeeping

Since when is Jeep a verb?

Oh yeah, when I ride with my friend it gets annoying. There are so MANY Jeeps.

I make sure to wave all of the Rav4s, Kia suvs and etc when I am with him.

I think the "rules" with bikers are bogus. I ride a custom bike and I'll wave to ANYONE on two wheels; sport bikes, dirt bikes, mopeds, etc. (sometimes even bicyclists). It's one big two wheeled brotherhood so why we got to be hate'n on one another?

As for the "jeep wave"? That's just silly. Like it's some "exclusive" club? You might as well just drive around with your arm out the window in a permanent wave since you'll be passing another jeep every few feet, or so.

Damn, I'd score high on their rules...battle scars, dirt/mud, larger tires, suspension lift, rock sliders with scars, skid plates with scars, tow straps! They will need to bow down to me!:bwgy:

Maybe that's why the page says this:

It's not what you buy, it's what you build and what you do with it.

Because if it's about what you buy, then everybody's special. Which is just another way of saying no one is. (Movie anyone?)

I ride a sport bike also, and wave to other "real" bikes (usually not mopeds, scooters or dirt bikes), and I usually expect/get a response from everyone. Of course my bike it bright Proton...errr yellow...so it tends to get their attention!

The Jeep Wave "silly"??? Please... Back in the day, you'd see a 4x4 on the trail and you'd wave to the driver who was almost always in a Jeep. That is where "The Jeep Wave" came from... people out and about doing the same thing. It had nothing to do really with the vehicle but the situation. After a decade or so though Jeepers became like hotrodders - shared involvment with a movement, hobby, passion, vehicle... Then came the Bronco, International, what-have-you. Then the idiots started jumping on the bandwagon and flooded what was a downhome brand of fun. Now there are douche bags in Jeeps, Toyotas, Isuzus, Fords, Nissans... and many more. They all wave to their similars - no different than any of you in a VX... so all you Matt Lauer's CAN SUCK IT!

In my experience choppers AND sport bikes are the least likely to wave
because they are trying to protect their image:rollb2:

everyone else is out to ride and have a good time so they always seems to wave:yesb:

so you are a fan of the jeep wave:_confused
I am a fan of waving to people on the trails. They are just most often driving Jeeps - I am a bit of a Jeep fan. I am a fan of waving to anyone in a VX no matter what I am driving at the time or where I am. If I see a modified vehicle I like, no matter what brand, I might give a thumbs up or a wave to show that I am a fan. The rules and regulations to the Jeep wave are simply attempts at humor - I am a fan of humor. But it's not like people in Jeeps even go around waving at other Jeeps all the time anyway. Less and less does "the Jeep wave" even occur. A person in a simple CJ or other early Jeep will wave more than someone in a newer Jeep while on the street. It's more of an old-school nostalgia or character thing than it is brand identification in my opinion. As I say that though, perhaps there is an underlying link to Willys/Overland, Kaiser, and AMC Jeeps (big fan)? Either way, newer models (Chryslers - not as much a fan) and their owners don't really belong to the history/character as much. With that said, while in a CJ or YJ (big fan), I have waved at those in old Broncos (fan), Scouts (fan), Patrols (fan), FJ's (fan of the real ones)... I guess I still consider that a Jeep wave because again, to me it is not about brand indentification. Since I am in an old Jeep noticing someone in another type of classic 4x4 (big fan) I like to say hi and show that traditional Jeepers are not elitists (not a fan of elitists) like so many VXers could be perceived. :bgwo: So in that sense, yes, I guess I am a fan of the Jeep wave! Now if I am in a Jeep or a GM and I see a VX, I am waving as a VXer from the heart so that to me is a VX wave... of which I am also a fan. Along the lines of what was inside the link Jamas posted... come on, it's a joke. I am a fan of jokes.

And BTW, there are things known as 4x4 clubs (fan), Jeep clubs (fan), 4x4 forums (fan)... They are really helpful in meeting people to wheel with! I am a BIG fan of wheeling with people! So sometimes if someone in a Jeep waves to someone else in a Jeep they might actually know or recognize each other..... nah, no way..... :p (I am a fan of smilies too)

Strange, the wife and I took the VX out tonight for our date. I got waved at by two different Jeeps, one was nicely equipped CJ, may have actually been wheeled:rolleyes:, the other was a newer 4dr with lots of super trail worthy mods....lol, looked like someone got ahold of a JC Whitney shopping spree:) I waved back to the first one, not so much the second one.

I do wave at most 4x4s that look trail worthy and at ANY brand vehicle I see on the trails.

If I had a Jeep, I'd most likely just get some kind of bobble-head hand to do all my waving for me. I mean, with SO many of them on the roads these days, that much time off of the steering wheel couldn't possibly be safe. :p

During my sportbike days, I always wondered just how many of those Harley riders who were too good to wave back at me because I was on a "Jap bike" actually knew how many parts from China and Japan were on their "American made" bikes, or in what country their Harley t-shirts and other miscellaneous riding garb was actually made. (That my bike(s) weren't American made was the usual condescending reasoning I got for getting no respect anyway.)

And IMO, elistist = safety in numbers, because it hasn't escaped my attention that your usual elitist only considers someone else cool if they're behaving in the same manner as said elitist, which in principle, actually renders said elitist just another member of the crowd of elitists. Funny how that works out sometimes. :bwgy:

I currently ride a 2008 Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 and I choose to wear a helmet. I will return waves from anyone on a bike, trike, Can Am reverse trike thingie, scooter, dirt bike, etc...etc...etc..

I will however, not initiate a wave. Too many high & mighty riders out there for me to waste time with.

Now for the big finale:

If you don't want to wave @ me because I ride what I have...I could care less...but I take it personally when you damage my bike because you are an A-Hole.

I went to my Local's Union Rally during contract negotiations with our company. By far the most common bike there was Harley's. A few Honda GoldWings too. I parked my bike there and came back after the rally was over to find it knocked over w/ some damage to the mirror & handlebar end plus a busted turn signal. Not only did I have to pick-up a 500 lb bike myself but had to pay to repair it too. Nice

I'm currently sniffing on new bikes but probably won't bite this summer. Before the Union Rally incident I was considering a 2011 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide. After the incident, I don't want to buy into that loser scene. Currently in love with a 2012 BMW K1600 GT.

That's All Folks!

I don't have any enemies and the area was cordoned off with cones to keep cars out...so I really don't know what happened for sure...but, I just can't shake that feeling it was because I had a metric bike amongst a sea of Harley's and the Goldwing's I noticed were gone when I came back out.
