In the recent Jeep Grand Cherokee commercial they brag about its' high water capabilities, do to its' raised air intake. Does the VX also boast a raised air intake?

Define "raised" air intake. I don't see anywhere on Jeep's site where they do.

Sounds like marketing spin to me.

ya our's is "raised" air as it takes air from really the highest point there at the front fender lol, I've seen that commercial too. You see all this water and your like "wow, I wonder where he's at", then it pans out and he just hit a big puddle, I went through a bigger one than that on my way to work today lol

I like the new grand cherokee but I wouldn't buy it for its offroad capabilities. Our VXs also have a nice & high air intake however the low mounted isuzu alternator is a problem in higher water.

IMO, the Wrangler Rubicon is the only stock Jeep model that will out perform the VX offroad.

I agree, if I had to buy a brand new vehicle to act as my DD AND and offroad toy, I would buy a 4dr Rubi. Some people don't like the 4dr's but built up some look nice and would work nice with a family.

I like it's design much better than the 2005-2010 model (wasn't a fan of the round headlights). I also like the look of the upcoming Ford Explorer (for the first time ever), but nothing else about it sounds very compelling.

Saw that commercial last week. Read the fine print on the lower screen. Total disclaimer saying the vehicle should never be driven in over 12" of water. You be the judge.

I went to an jeep dealership just to test drive one last month,i like its power (290 HP) .

The new 3.6L really make the cherokee looks more appealling, but for the price i wouldn't buy it,rather take an chance with an 4Runner.

I love the new design, except the damn grill,i hate the fact that jeep keeps using the grill as an trademark. It just narrows jeep's options to design an nice front end.

personally i would never buy a new jeep unless i had absolutely NO plans of wheeling it.... they cost too much money to tear up off road....(6 or 7k vehicle i dont mind beating up... but 40k? hell no)
the only newer jeep i would own would be-
SRT-8 :drool2: :drool2: :drool2: :drool2: :drool2:

however, i love my 4runner and am VERY impressed by its offroad and onroad abilities (most of you saw it in moab this year ;) )

IF I was to ever own a GC, it'd be that SRT8, or the 98' 5.9 Limited

Good Info everyone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They just had a Jeep off road demonstration and test drive at the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds (200 yards/meters from my house) I filmed it and got pictures of it. They put up dirt mounds and hills, rocks etc. It drew nice crowds, and a long line if you wanted to do the course with the new vehicles. Off to the side they had a Jeep owners mini course set up.....and only 1 Jeep was over there.

Of course I was going nuts not being able to take my VX over there, even though I have the coveted "Trail Rated" medallion on my VX.

I'm with about the SRT 8.
I was very tempted to drive off an lot with one last year,an dealer had one with 37K on the odo for just $ 22K fully loaded.

Didn't bite the bait because of the financing conditions, but i really like those jeeps.

Another con is the fact that these SRT8 has few safety recalls, especially the brembo calipers among others
