Hi Everyone i hope you all are having a better day than me.

Earlier this week (monday) i was driving along and suddenly my vx's engine quit. i was going about 60/km/hr at the time. unfortunately after many attempts she wouldn't start again. so i had it towed to my mechanic and he said that it was the starter, so i had him fix it thinking id have my girl back to me in no time. my mechanic installed the new starter and tried to turn it on ...... it didn't. so he dove deeper into what the problem could be. it turns out that both cams have seized completely, he cant even move them with a giant wrench. so hes in the proses of taking the engine apart to see what caused this. it went from a $500 (canadian) job to now a $2,000-$5,000 job.

i was wondering if anyone could give me any advise or help on this, cause i love my truck and dont want to see her leave.

Print this service bulletin I have and give it to your mechanic-

But I'm not sure I would trust that guy. Your engine quits running and he thinks the starter caused that? :_confused

I also made some videos and other info available here that will help him if he gets confused with the timing belt install. Make sure he replaces the water pump also.

well the starter went because i tried to start it when the cams were seized so it just packed it in

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks for that further explanation.

well it seems that she cant be fixed as easy as i thought. one head is completely destroyed and the other needs lots of work.
