View Full Version : Learned 3 things today

Went out playing today at Mobile Swamp, took my VX and Dustin's Ebony all freshly lifted and tire'd out. Went through a couple trails that had some interesting water holes lol. We learned 3 things (well really two, I knew the Isuzu Alternator placement sucks)

1: Isuzu made the Vehicross door seals really good, not a single drop of water made it into the cabin except for crawling in and out of the window:

2: Isuzu Alternator placement sucks lol Dustin's got all gobbed up with crap

3: My roof rack works like a charm  I had it in a bunch of big trees today on some of the trails and it didn't budge one bit. If it didn't get ripped off today, it's not going anywhere :yeso:

I think I'm gonna start working on a high-mount alternator bracket lol. Dustin has some pics of my truck stuck to the doors too in another hole. I made it through this one but I picked the perfect line completely by accident :yesy: He has a vid of me going through it and it looks like I just fly across it, he went a little more to the right than me and bam, swimming time. We enjoyed pulling each other out though  Our trucks looked like little kids blowing bubbles in their drinks with our exhaust pipes underwater lol. He has a few more pics and a vid that I'll get up at some point. Here are a few more pics from today:

I don't know if we spent more time wheeling or talking to people about our trucks. From the time we pulled in until the time we left we were constantly being approached about our VX's. Needless to say we enjoyed it :bgwo: We had a guy with a nice Rubicon want to wheel with us, he was a little crazy though lol, he plowed over a tree going up this hill, scared the crap out of his wife/kid, he was stuck up on it for a minute and I thought he was gonna roll when he came down. But he made it up, we were impressed.

What size tires do the both of you have? They both seem to fit really well.

Looks like a ton of fun. Maybe one day I'll have some nice tires.. maybe...

I have 33x11.50's basically (285/75-16), he has 34x10.50 Swamper LTB's that we took off a parts truck we bought (which ended up fitting almost perfect with very little trimming, he didn't rub one bit yesterday, lucky sob lol). Here are some of the aftermath pics from this morning, and it's actually a little cleaner because of my sprinklers lol

Have fun cleaning them!:bwgy: You will be finding mud in places for the next year or longer...thats why I stick to the rocks and only tread through mud when absolutely necessary. Also in those deep water holes you need to be aware of your air intake location (drivers wheelwell)...don't want to suck water into the intake...the results really suck!:yesy:

RamAirZ

lol ya the intake inlet was above water and I'm gonna be working on a snorkel soon anyways as well as some other "waterproofing". I've already cleaned out the underside and inside today. Since most of it was water there wasn't a whole lot of mud stuck underneath, it was more twigs and pine needles  The last time I took it out and had it in the deep clay mud, now that took forever to get out, I forget how long I spent spraying all the mud out of my gas tank skid plate lol. There aren't many rocks out here, I miss the ORV parks in Cali. I myself prefer trails with obstacles and rocks etc. There were a few trails that had spots that were "worn out" that made for a nice crawling area and flexing the truck out. It was alot of fun. I hate mud though, don't know why I was always wanting to go mudding when I was younger, it's such a pain to clean. But it comes with the territory out here

You needs some audio editing software to bleep out the "C word" in this video (http://s583.photobucket.com/albums/ss272/RamAirZ/1999%20Isuzu%20Vehicross/?action=view&current=100_0120.mp4). :bwgy:

lol yes I do. I wish you guys could see that hill in person, it's major pucker factor half way up. My buddy Dustin refused to go up it this weekend, he told me to have fun lol. I did that with the front hubs unlocked in that vid fresh after a rain storm, that was the jeep guys you heard talking. They all had to use 4wd to make it.
