Looks like a catch 22 ... I need a buldozer to move the ties.. but the ties are behind me and the bulldozer is on the flatbed ... but I need the bulldozer to move the ties to get the bulldozer down off the truck... eeek

LOL Spike! There's a story behind the Cat off-load, but basically I stacked all the ties by hand. All 26 of 'em! The truck bringing the Cat had no ramps, so I first had dug an unloading "ramp" with my other tractors but all the rain we've been getting filled it up. So we went with the cross-tie ramp, but when the truck went to back into the property it bogged down outside the gate. I had to move all the ties and re-stack behind the truck then move them all back in the gate afterwards. I got smart on that move and bundled them up with chain and used my front-end loader. Made it in two trips that time!

Yeah, I found the balloon, 308 and Super 7 interesting as well. I've just been reading up quite a bit on homebuilt balloons and there's quite a bit out there. In any case, at every VX meet I've found other common interests between owners and just absolutely love the comeraderie of this group! No matter what the background, demographic or income, VX enthusiasts are awesome folk!:thumbup:

Home made hot air balloon? That sounds kinda scary...

Agreed on 'simlarity' of tastes. I see we also have a Fiero owner on our list. I had wanted one from before they went up for sale... (I got my license a year later) I test drove one in 89 or 90.. but ended up with a Grand Am instead (back seats come in handy when carting fellow college classmates around).

Then in 94, I looked at a Delorean with about 40k miles on it.. for about $15k, but I was concerned about parts availability... according to the web sites at the time, there were certain parts that you just could not find anywere.

So instead of the Delorean. I opted for the electric blue 92 Grand Prix SE with a 3.4L v6 and quad overhead cams. .. It was the one with the more aggressive GTP body style ... sans hood vents ... I really wish it had hood vents .. but hey.. the rest of the car was exactly what I had been shopping for 3 years earlier.. Was planning on ordering it - color and all.. from Pontiac. It just happend to be sitting slightly used at a dealership that my family is friends with.

Along with the VX... That Grand Prix was the other favorite of all the cars I have owned. It also made my decision to buy this VX back in April very difficult. In that the same week that I saw the VX for sale, there was a 2000 Grand Prix GTX (super charged and Ram Air/exhaust from SLP) ... similar price, same color... it was a very tough choice at first.. but the more I read on here and ClubVmag... I slowly swayed off of the fence.. and.. well... here I am ;Db;

I hadn't post here yet. What's ironic is I'm posting because my 93 535i BMW got rear end today in a four car pile up. I bought it in June because I wasn't sure when I was going to bring my Vx to Hawaii. The other coincedence is that the Vx just arrived in Hawaii today. It's at the shipping yard. It's good to have a back up for my pampered baby.

People always commented me on how clean the Beemer was. Now I will have to drive the VX sooner than expected until my daily driver is fixed. I like having the VX as my show worthy ride.

ever take it to the track? It is a blast. Here I am at Phoenix International Raceway coming out of turn 4 on the Nascar bank and going under the GOODYEAR bridge. The track goes into the infield from Turn 1 and then goes back into the Nascar track in turn 3. Wide open throttle around turn 4 to get max speed on toward the straight. There is nasty bump on the turn 4 that will catch you off guard. You can see this when you watch the Nascar Cars move around a bit.

When told it is ugly (very seldom) my comment is always "You'd say that about my wife too", which causes the jaw to drop and ends the conversation abruptly! Most comments from the Army post Guard's are "AWESOME RIDE."
I'm retired Army always a Fire Control Technician, Nike Herc missile system, Hawk missile system last was Patriot Missile system hense "Yellow Patriot". BS in Business Management, now work for the prime contractor for the Patriot missile system. Happily married two daughters at home one 21 one 12, bith excellent students. Can't wait til I retire, maybe 3 1/2 years. Won't sell the VX, but may sell the Vette, owned it for 12 years. Want to get to VX meet but something always comes up.I live in El Paso, have ID'ed three other VX's in town but others are unfriendly!!!!!! Always seem surprised that I want to talk to them :( :confused:

Neither my 99 VX or the "other vehicle" can fit in the garage as its full of building supplies. (The Army called and I have to move again which means the remodelling project has a new and painfully short timeline.)

Back to the "other ride"...a 2004 KIA SENDONA MINIVAN! Its analagous to a cute girl with her butt ugly friend as her wing-girl. It just makes the VX look 10 times better. Its like driving a tampon advertisement. My wife considers it her "placeholder" ride since she wants a VX but is waiting for the kids to get older and possibly even someday get out of the house.

I just got my '99 VX.
I have had my '76 Jeep CJ-5 for 12 years and the only thing left on it that came from the factory (unmolested) is the transfer case and the grill. I'm having some wiring problems right now. :confused:
I got an '85 Chevy 5/4 ton Army pick-up this year and it will soon have Hummer wheels and 36" tires and a Banks Turbo Diesel kit installed.
Now the junkers: '79 Jeep Cherokee (engine donor and later axles); '78 Jeep Honcho J-10 with a blown (up) 360 - i got it for this kid... he is too young to work on it right now; '59 Willys wagon - no drivetrain - got it free but don't know what to do with it yet; there's a couple of spare motors & trannys and frames and stuff too. - I hope my dad doesn't pass on any time soon but when he does he will pass on to me an '85 Jeep CJ-7 with the works and a modified '83 Jeep Scrambler CJ-8

1963 Datsun Pick-up (27,000 miles) was my father's. Has been in storage in Okla. for prolly 30 yrs. It has a hand crank, in case the battery goes dead and it is 4=speed on the column. it is not in as good of condition as the mile would suggest. Alot of the rubber trim is cracked but it has no rust. Just another project not finished.

I don't have a regular DD for myself, being in the wholesale car business. I change vehicles about every 30-90 days. currently driving a 2008 F-350 Ford Lariat Crew 4x4.

Wow, James, that's gorgeous! My brother has a '91 Twin Turbo in the white pearl (can't tell if yours is same pearl or not). He's had like the entire car chromed inside (ok, slight exaggeration), modified to the max and converted to racing fuel. He shows it and has won some awards, been in magazines. All I do now are sprint distances. I swim and cycle at olympic distances but I don't want to up the run and go for a full on olympic triathlon (emphasis on the try!!) until I can get under an hour. About 7 more minutes of improvement and I'll go for the bigger runs.

So far I've only done one triathlon, it was a sprint, finished at 1 hour 7 minutes and change... I'd been "training" for one for several months before I did it. There is another race local to me in Ocala in August sometime I'll be doing and that will be my push to under an hour and then I'll up distance to a "big kid" tri!

Work is very aggrivating with the hours required of me, but for about 7 months a year it's Monday-Thursday and 3 day weekends. That gives me plenty of time to train harder, but during the weeks I'm either too tired or short on time to get any sort of real distances/times in. It'll get better someday. I've got a plan to quit my job and go work at the Home Depot mixing paint buckets part time to pursue my TRYathlete ambitions!

and I honestly don't have the attention span to do an Ironman! Athough I'm jealous of anyone who can even attempt one, much less finish it!

I plan on doing this for a long time. I think I can cut most of the time needed out of my transitions! I started running without socks and cycling without socks too. That should cut out almost a minute hopefully, and I got a different jersey that's easier to get on, then just practicing a few bike to run transitions (my legs were rubber for the first race!) and I should be able to get to my goals.
