HI all, is the jdm tod computer located below our driver seat. if so then part number 8971319762 is its number.

checking myisuzuparts dot com it comes up as a abs control unit for a 1992 trooper...which sort of makes sense. is this just a naming convention and it is the control unit for our JDM TOD?

can someone confirm this for me?

i ask as my tod computer is kput. and i am trying to track down a replacement. the US tod computer listed for the US version of the vx will not be compatible due to the constant TOD mode.

I have had a Isuzu specialist spend 4 hours today trying to read the tod computer. he was able to talk to everything but the tod computer. Oh found out that my airbag module is shot and the pervious owner has removed the bulb from behind the dash to hide the fact :mady:

My rear left speed sensor is also gone. But on the good news he only charged me for 2 hours work and not 4. :)
Cheers

just found out that the 1992 jackaroo tod system has three settings: 2WD, which is best used around town on dry pavement; TOD, which automatically directs power to the front wheels in the event of rear-wheel slippage, and 4Low, a low gear range which offers maximum traction at low speeds. In the US version the TOD computer is under the passenger seat so it would make sense that it's under the drivers seat in the jdm version. I believe troopers had selectable 4wd as well. Not sure the name for it there, maybe bighorn?

It's known as the Jackaroo. I priced the comp over here using a Holden code (8973194810 for those intrested) and its 912$. i am sure i could get it cheaper over seas or maybe from a wreckers yard.

Hi i would have said that if it says ABS control unit then its the ABS control unit and not the TOD computer - the Japs are not going to lable the unit wrong they are very good about stuff like this -
I would start at the beginning and get the speed sensors changed before even thinking about the TOD unit - how can the unit even begin to work if the data its getting is incomplete ?
I presume you have the 'CHECK' lit up ? i am sure you can read the codes from the ODBII socket and there is a post on here all about how to do this - in all probability although the computer is tech 2 it will not beable to talk to the TOD unit anyway don't forget the JDM are an early ODBII almost experimental ecu unlike the US version which is true ODBII
i would get the sensor done and then see if the TOD sorts itself out

Hi mate thanks for the advice. Are the speed sensor's going to be the same ones from the 1992 Trooper? i assuming it would be.

i might price the speed senors first and go from there.

Hi it all depends - the vehicross has four sensors the trooper has one on the rear ( i think it has the one anyway ) which is screwed into the rear axle casing
you may find the front and rears are the same on the vehicross - the ABS sensors are utilised by the TOD computer to control the output so i am unsure is they would be the same mainly because the VX is a '97 - i would find out the part number and go from there - the US sensor and the Jap one will most likely be the same
