Anybody know where to get the custom front skid plate that is in galery pictures? I am looking for an aluminum one.

I saw a post saying marlin has them, but how do I get in touch with him?

I tried to cut and paste a picture but couldn't.
I am not looking for underbody. Just the plate that covers around front bumper. If you link to this it is the one I am looking for.

The specific link within that page does not seem to bring up the skid plate.

Contact Rowhard for that one and tell him what you need.

I believe that his are fiberglass and the one he made for me is exceptional!

Here are the ones I made, they are for the under body, a true skid plate, Rowhard's look sweet, but are purely cosmetic, not a skid plate.
I stopped making mine, not enough interest. I sold my last one a few months ago...sorry. If you truly want a skid plate, the Kilby plates are the way to go.

If you truly want a skid plate, the Kilby plates are the way to go.

The KILBY "belly-pan" skidplates can be viewed at www.KilbyEnterprises.com under the Trail-Boss product line. Fellow forum member "BIG SWEDE" may be wanting to sell his brand new still-in-the-box uninstalled KILBY set-- give him a shout by PM for further details.

Thanks for the kind words Mile High.

Got your email Daly. That photo is one of Ron's (VX Concepts) Plastic Skid plates, very nice product along with the other items he did, but unfortunately he shut down his operations. Mine is the same except of fiberglass, but I don't have the fake screws in the top. Of course you could take the LDub approach. :yesgray:

How does yours attach? I thought the screws were for real (guess I didn't read Dub's installation thread very carefully). 3M body tape maybe?

Without fastening anything to the cladding, the two main attachment points are the stock licence plate bracket fastening locations.

See this pic...

I removed the bracket & used a couple of long stainless screws to fasten John's front skid + the licence plate bracket that I fabbed up out of scrap aluminium.

Like Dub said, two screws at the license plate area and then two underneath the cladding...

Hope this helps. It really is easy and I love the look and quality.

Seems like adding screws or tape where the valance meets the bottom of the cladding might be a good idea too. Thanks for the details Dub!

Well there you go... thanks Mile High! I keep putting this off, seems like every time I get ready to PM John something else comes up (bill or rare accessory purchase). Gotta believe a Foxfire valance would look spectacular!

no, not actually, he has so many orders it takes time to get them, he's been so booked up.
Here's his info, it's listed under the "Parts & Accessories" part of the forum:

Best bet is to do what I did and hunt for-sale VX's with the plates on them. VX owners rarely seem to get what they want for their trucks, so if you can convince the seller that you'll pay more than the plates add to the resale value of their VX they might let them go.

:luck:
