View Full Version : A third VX???

When I got my first VX my wife said it was ugly. Later she said it was ugly and hard to get into (2.5 inch lift). Still later she said it was ugly, hard to get into and uncomfortable to ride in on long distances (about 500 miles per day on road trips).

Her relentless criticism resulted in me getting a second VX (I'll show her a bad ride). Now she says that 2 VXs increase her pain, are hard to get into and uncomfortable to ride in on short distances (5 miles or even less). Hummm..I'm thinking of getting a third VX.

Does anyone think I will ultimately prevail? Be honest.

My wife also hates the VX. She says it's like riding in a shopping trolley (cart). She says the doors are too heavy, the door handles break her finger nails, its hard to get in (even without a lift). The passenger seat is hard to push back (I need to forward all the way to allow my son in the back), and difficult to tilt the seat forward (she can't work the catch for some reason). It's expensive to own, run and maintain (taking much needed money from the household), and is impractical - no clever storage solutions and poor rear storage (when you consider the dog). The sound system is muffled and there isn't even a cup holder. But she does appreciate that I love it and it gives me great joy owning it - so she does give me too much ear ache about it.

PS She drives a Nissan Micra.

You sir, are my hero. I'm just glad that wifey loves the VX as much as I do. The only thing she gives me a hard time about is belonging to this here "cult".:)

Go for it!

Navi; I can only assume you have not been married too long if you think doing battle with the Admiral can get you ahead.:) Either that or she is waiting till you mature a bit to begin your training. Stay in touch and enjoy the waterboarding.:)

This whole thread is too funny! :laugho: All true, but still funny! Dave 1st got married at 43...so imagine the "training" I've had to do! At least I had a "practice husband" for about 20 yrs! ........Hummm, "Admiral", I kind a like the sound of that.....:p

I have the opposite problem...Dave's not quite as enamored with the VX as I am....:rollo: His FJ is his baby....well, everybody has their own taste, right?

p.s. Navi- Go for it! What's the worst that can happen? Just remove all sharp objects from the house!

I guess I am extra lucky. My wife likes the VX, thinks it's cool, but hates driving it because she can't see. :D

On the flip-side she has several pet names for the Trooper. The School Bus, The Dump Truck, the white-trash mobile, etc.

I would rather not talk about her opinion of the Falcon.

I think she has evil motives...she just keeps telling you that she hates the VX's anticipating that you will buy yet another, she will act like it is the end of all things evil, file for devorce and be the proud new owner of 3 VX's from the devorce settlement!:bwgy:

My beautifu bride (see how well trained I am) will tolerate the VX, but does not like it.

My kids, all of whom drive, don't like it at all.

Guess who gets to ALWAYS drive this wonderful vehicle...:bwgy::smilewink:bgwo::bgwb:

Go for it Navi!

My wife likes mine and likes how people stare when you're rolling down the street in it. She's a glamour puss. :p

That is a very good thing. I talked to somebeach about a month ago - he lost his VX to his son.

Joyce says it's OK to have one VX but two just doesn't make sense when we have a two car garage and own five cars. I have two VXs and a BMW and she has a BMW and a Fiat. Now the Fiat is a 1979 Spyder 2000 (red) convertible. It's her fun car which is stored during the Winter. She'll be braking it out at the end of the month. Her BMW is a 1989 325ix (red), it's a limited edition ('89 - '91) AWD car that is really fast and goes anywhere in the snow. Two years ago she got rear ended in it and the insurance company totaled it. It took six months, a donor car and $25,000.00 to get the car totally restored. That included transporting her BMW from Alabama and the donor BMW from Maryland to Lenexa, plus all the repairs and a complete new paint job. All this done by a auto restoration specialist. It's looks and drives like it's off the showroom floor. There was no talking her out of it.

And she says that two VXs is excessive. Three VXs would still be just as excessive, right?

What I think she meant was, "You know, we really should build a second, detached garage."

Sounds like for what she has in the BMW, you could have 2 more VX's...:bwgy::smilewink:bgwo::bgwb:

Big +1 on that. She insisted on dumping $25K into a salvage vehicle and you can't have a few $5-8K VX's? C'mon now.

What about a duplex with a double car garage on both sides?

That sounds perfect for after the divorce! At least you can stay in touch, have 3 VX's and always have one parked outside -- in plain view -- so she can see it out her side of the duplex (windows). It'd be the perfect way to remind her of the reason for divorce! LOL

Seriously Bob, WTF? Who's the 3rd one for? You're OBVIOUSLY a nice guy who's willing to share VX's with the rest of the community. Yet, you want to HOG them all to yourself! :bwgy:

Before buying 3 Corvettes to suit my daily whim, I'd be more inclined to perfect and perfect until the one I drove each day was,,,ugh,,,perfect! (O.K., that might include having a cameleon switch to change colors from day-to-day!)

Or...another option is to legally change your name to Bob Leno -- the VX-collecting brother of Jay.

For now the third VX is on hold.

Wifey says I should finish what I start with VX2 before I think of a third one...and I agree. There's a garage full of stuff to install onto VX2 to bring it up to match VX1.

I would like to have a salvage VX just for parts though. I could put it in the back yard under a tarp. She would really go ape***** over that. The neighborhood association would probably side with her.

89vette, did you get those pics I sent?

Build it inside one of those fort-style swing sets. It'll work!

Didn't get them. PM with my email posted again. Will call this week too!
