Since it wouldn't be seen by as many, I'm starting a new thread.

This conversation started in my gallery... http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/16782/ppuser/1063

And since I have received the bauble in question, I've found it to be virtually identical to the one Vt Mav posted.

So if you're thinking of one of these, get the less expensive one, they're the same.
Mine came with a D-ring rated @ 4.75 ton (9500 lbs) so same there too.
I have since replaced the D-ring with one rated for 6.5 ton (13000 lb)

Right, I'm gonna be my normal self and ask a silly question! Where do these go? Is it to replace the hook at the front or the other side or the back? Do they bolt straight on or is adaption necessary? I need some decent recovery points and just need to know before I buy some.

Thanking you!

Nick

Well, they may do things a bit differently across the pond (I've heard stories...:smilewink) but around here, that bit goes in my receiver hitch...:yesgray:

From what I can gather, a two inch square receiver hitch is a bit of an odd duck over your way...:_thinking

Nick it goes in a US style hitch. PM me your email and I’ll send you some CAD drawings of a VX hitch I’ve whipped up which is the same as the US ones. Theres a metal fabricators knocking one up for about £30 for me (at material cost price) so you could probably find someone near by to make one or I’ll cut a deal for 2 of them??

What does a Euro Spec receiver look like?

I had no idea they didn't use the same...

Ok scrub that last one - I've managed to find out what a hitch is :smilewink

So do they come as standard on US VX's? I don't have one and it seems James doesn't either so maybe JDM VX's don't?

VX didn't come with a hitch (even as an option) but there are aftermarket ones available.

No, ours didn't come standard either. Some bought a custom one Tone was selling, and some just get a readily available one from one of the common manufacturers (like Curt). Tone's was much better looking, I think kind of built thru the rear cladding (had to cut cladding), I think.

I hate when they do that (type fast), cause I read so slow.
