Hoping someone can help me with a few “small” issues with my 01 Proton.
Nothing major, just little jobs that need attending to.

• Front passenger CV boot replacement. How?
• Remote alarm/entry fob. Where do I get a spare one?
• The dreaded window issue. Where do I get new tabs from and best ones to get?

Any/all help and advice will be most welcome.

Thanks all

Hellomoto....here's a thread about the metal replacement window tabs. I believe a lot of our members have used them and done away with the plastic tabs that break. My windows are Ok but I prolly ought to get ready by ordering the SBC's. There's also an excellent post on how to install them (but I can't remember who did it) it was called "Window fixing party ". Just do a search on that and you'll find it. I'm sure others will help ya on the fob and cv. If ya need me I'm only an hour away. I would be on no help as I'm not a good wrench, but I don't mind being the "water boy".

For the CV boots, you're gonna have to pull the hubs and remove the half shaft and replace the boots and great. Not a fun job but not all that difficult either. Most people here use the Mecatech boot repair kit available from Independent4x.com.

PM VX KAT for help with the remote. She's the queen of ebay & can prolly help you find one there.

I've done the window thang. It's easy, I just hope Tim still makes the brackets (he recently sold his VX so may have lost interest).

I've done the boots 3 times now. Johnny's write up is good but I didn't go that route. There's a method to do it without breaking down the hubs - it's in the How2 section. It's not too hard to do but it is time consuming the first time & you will get DIRTY!!!!

BTW Handito - ya never miss an opportunity do ya? I love you man.

Stick around - it can get brutal:)

BTW, IIRC you're looking at about $100 for the boots, $60 for the window brackets & probably $50 for the FOB.

Brutality will cost you extra.

ISUZU OEM REMOTE PART NUMBER: BAB237131-013 - 2-90101-701-0

Here's some places to get a used OEM keyless key fob...many places sell a clone....I wanted an OEM... Tried to buy new from Isuzu dealership but no go, not available. So I didn't mind used.

Here's a bunch of used on ebay:
http://desc.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=BAB237131-013+-+2-90101-701-0&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=1&_trksid=p3286.m270.l1313&_odkw=BAB237131-013+-+2-90101-701-0&_osacat=0&_rdc=1

Here's another source:
http://www.originalkeyless.com/product.sc?productId=1256&categoryId=13

If it has that part number, it works. They should come with programming instructions, if not, I still have mine and it's really easy.

Definitely order the metal brackets from Tim at SBC, they're great. I live close enough that I had him actually install them. I took pics of him doing it, those pics are in my gallery, may help you visualize what the brackets look like and where they go. Go to this page, and scroll down until right after the pics of models & matchbox cars.

You just let me know who's been brutal and I'll beat them with my night stick! :)

Here's a link to find fobs http://www.keylessride.com/order/quote.asp?lbfix=yes&make=Isuzu&remoteyear=2000&model=VehiCross&frid=6BA75A9A

I have two fobs in excellent condition and will part with them.
$30.00 for one (1) + Shipping or $60.00 for both (2) I pay shipping

Thanks again everyone. How easy is it to program the remotes?
Also, I’m struggling to find an outer CV boot for my 2001 VX. I've been told the 2001 is different from the 99/20 and neither the Rodeo or Trooper will fit.
Has anyone any ideas on the size or what other model shares the same boot?

It's very easy, a few pushes of the buttons on the clicker, a few opening of the door, it's easy.

www.myisuzuparts.com (http://www.myisuzuparts.com/) says the boots are the same for all years. A part # search from the home page shows the outer boot kit is shared with a Rodeo and a Google search shows Honda dealers have it for their Passport(Rodeo).

This is where most of us have gotten them:

https://www.independent4x.com/merchantmanager/product_info.php?products_id=205

They also sell the boots by themselves for $25 each

IMHO. If you're tearing down your front end anyway, you should replace them all.
