Made a totally useless discovery today....we have 3 sequential VIN numbers for the 2001 model year here.....
mrtew......0662....Proton
VX KAT.....0663....Foxfire
VX crazy...0664....Kaiser

mrtew discovered that he and I were sequential a while back, but I just noticed Lisa was today......wonder if we have any other 3-somes....or more:?: (ok, no comments! :laugho:...OK, let's call them triads...or maybe trifectas!)

With these being partially "hand made" I wonder how they did the painting of different colors sequentially ??:_thinking Multiple paint booths perhaps, so line could keep going and multiple workers could receive a different color VX to continue work? IIRC, we're also all 3 having very good "luck" with reliability, yeah?

Think somebody posted a video on how these were made...think it had some assembly line type video footage...have to look that up again...Anybody have it handy?

Like I said, useless but interesting...:yeso:

Here is some assembly line video footage. It's about 6 minutes into Part 1.

Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScgRtGjJ8JM)
Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QiHKyZvZZa4)

Just a guess - but I would think the VIN is applied as a step close to the end of the line - which means all the painting and most of the assembly is already completed. Either that or some numbers for critical parts (provided there are matching numbers for VIN - not sure about the VX but I know some other manufacturers do so) are applied early and then brought together towards the end during assembly. Since there's a handmade aspect I doubt that they worried too much about any sequence, but rather towards total production numbers as a per-day, per-week or per-month datum.

I did notice that T4B's 2000 proton (0776) came exactly 200 units after my Kaiser (0576). Musta run out of Kaiser paint.
Plus it's all clear to me now:
Ldub's 99 = 1872
Handeeman's 00 = 0576
Tom4Bren's 00= 0776
Seeing it all layed out like that...it's just so obvious.
Wow..that's just too weird !
no wonder we're like the Three Amigos.
Thanks for bring up this thread Kat, I'm sure with a little further study I could find the numerical relationship of all of us.

Wow Handee...having you around is like being in the same room with Nostradamus or Mike Anglo or something...

I hope we get to meet face 2 face someday, so I can say I've been in the presence of greatness...:smilewink

I do love the symmetry of numbers tho and that is why I often see things others miss. (well I sometimes see things other don't but I don't think that makes me weird or anything).

1 x 1= 111 x 11= 121
111 x 111= 12321

1111 x 1111= 1234321

11111 x 11111= 123454321

111111 x 111111= 12345654321

1111111 x 1111111= 1234567654321

11111111 x 11111111= 123456787654321
111111111 x 111111111= 12345678987654321Just thought some of you would enjoy seeing that.
