View Full Version : Door handle Mod-Prolly not a good idea

I was thinking how every once in a while your hand slips off the door handle when you try to open it. I know some people have used the grip tape under the handle with success, but I was wanting a better solution. So I thought has any one tried to put a cabinet drawer pull on their door handle ? Like this:1190

So using a cordless drill and metal bit like this:1193

I drilled a couple of holes in the door handle like this:1191

Then attached the cabinet pull like this:1192

Not bad huh? I used the silver pulls from Home Depot, $2.39 each.
Wife say's she thinks it looks funny but it's practical.

+1 - I'll withold the official cry of blasphemy until I've seen the pics. But mounting cabinet hardware on your automobile may be difficult to recover from even if the pics aren't bad.

This is a joke right? Even if I had to use my pinky to open the door I would still never think about seriously doing this one, this cannot be serious.

I remember a certain someone on the forum who had a rope instead of an inside door handle. This ain't much worse.

Think of all the great uses that handlee will have in the future as well:

You can hang the transmission fluid bottle from there when you're servicing your tranny.

If you're on a long road trip, you can hang your laundry from there to dry.

You could integrate a can holder so you don't spill your beer inside the VX.

The possibilities are endless.

It WOULD make a nice towel rack.

Perhaps we are being quick to judge. Let us see a "zoomed out" picture so we can be more comfortable judging you.:):)

Heck....maybe the next step is curtains around the windows instead of tinting......maybe a white picket fence around the bottom......:):):)

I kid...I kid....

Keep thinking outside the box. I know that's what EVERYONE here does and we have had some real great ideas surface because of it.

Man that's what I like to hear, think of all the possibilities. However, one of the upsides is since these pulls are universal I can switch to antique brass, gold or whatever. Hum, cup holder, tranny fluid....priceless. Will try to post pics from farther away today. Everytime I try to post pics I have to delete others cause I get the over the attachment notice. Seems like I can only do about 3-4 pics before I have to delete-em to do 3-4 new ones.

You should scale the pictures down so they aren't 324mb a piece :)

Isn't that a limitation that's removed for site supporters? PRESSURE, PRESSURE, PRESSURE...

J/k, just an FYI in case you eventually get sick of doing tha - although with the member status tags removed maybe you already are and I'm way off base. If so, sorry!

I'll vouch for Handee as being MORE than just an annual $20 site supporter...:yesgray:
He goes WAY above & beyond that...

My guess is that his gallery limitations are an oversight that will be corrected when the site upgrade is complete...:smack:

I feel so badly about the Somebeach thread, I'm not going to carry this any farther. I was just putting everyone on, as to this door handle mod. I figured everyone would be saying "is he friggin crazy?" to drill a VX door handle like that. I took bad pics on purpose, some of my VX door handle (which is unscathed), and drilled a cash for clunker handle that's headed for the crusher. The Somebeach thread has made me sick to my stomach.. I apologize to everyone for attempting to have a little fun with a goofy mod.

This is no different than a lot of the mindless drivel I post.

Our new mission will be to bring Handee out of his deep blue funk.

It's nothing you should feel bad about, my man. He already made up his mind before you had even said anything... [********************deleted points that would only offend******************]
