I love my Terra grapplers as an all around tire and i love the classic looks of the those wheels. Do it.

Also make sure the center bore is big enough. We have a bigger hub than most.

paying that much only to have to powder coat is too rich for my blood. I would bet you could get black rims for what you are offering and I am also not sure what that style would look like black I like the black/silver look myself

I agree, its not a bad deal but I think it would be better to buy wheels you're completely happy with. The tire are good though, you should see if the seller will split up the tires/rims and offer him around $500 for the tires.

IMO, I don't think they're bad looking rims and you may like the chrome better once you put em' on the VX. :_confused

I did not think about it but check these rims for chrome peeling. After going through two sets on the VX I have sworn off chrome. BTW I looked into powder coating the chrome rims that I had and it was over $150 per rim so check for prices before you buy.

I believe that if you google Mickey Thompson Classic II, you'll find that these wheels are polished aluminium.

Yeah, fitment issues should be your biggest concern. If the center bore is for GM it will not work for you. If the center bore is for imports, you should be good to go. You may also want to go to the Mickey Thompson website and check the offset/backspacing. Also check the wheel tire thread Rick Shaw started as you will find pics of VX's with different offsets and sizes to get an idea how these would look on yours.

IIRC Mickey Thompson had a partnership with Alcoa Aluminum to build their rims.

285/75/50? That must be a huge tire! :p

In all seriousness, the tires are nice but I'm not sold on the rim design. They look like they'd go great on a classic Bronco or Blazer, but I don't think they'd mesh well with a futuristic Japanese design.

by the time you powder coat you could probably go new. i just bought some 17" American Racing teflon wheels which almost match the cladding perfect with Nitto Grapplers for about $1200. i'll post some pics and particulars later...really come down to cost of PC

Before I decided on keeping the 18's, I was looking at these... not sure if they come in the right fitment but the price is right and they'd look good in my humble opinion

.......... .....

OMG, they look totally amazing!!! They look almost like the "one of a kind" ISUZU factory snowflake rims...I think my head is going to explode...
That said; they are in a class by themselves in the 16 x 8" size, of which no other brand wheel can match, period.

The reason they fit so perfectly, with several rubbing issues, is purely because you used a non-stock, aftermarket, 16 x 8" wheel. That is truly the "secret". The use of aftermarket wheels will somewhat increase the threat of rubbing issues, which can easily be cured.

When I was shopping for wheels these were in my top two choices I lost countless hours of sleep in trying to come to a final decision, but these wheels are simply incredible.

In the end, I finally selected the Nitto Mud Grapplers & as much lift as I thought the CV's could handle, cause I wanted it to look badA$s...like it might go out at night by itself & eat the tires off Camaros...:naughty:
Like you, the tire technician's asked me over-n-over for permission to mount the tires, so I said: "hey whatever makes you happy."
Well; to their amazement, they fit bolt-on perfect using the aftermarket Centerline 20 x 8" wheels with OME 919's & 1" spacers, with about 14 cranks on the T-bars.
It didn't EVEN clear the famous "bolt" in the back of the front wheel-well, so I did a bit of cutting, & massaged it gently with the two pounder...:smack:
Only very major trimming on the front cladding portion was all that was required, and they totally "fill-up" the huge fenderwell gaps with pure tire...did I mention...THEY LOOK MEAN AZ HELL?...:naughty:

However, I realize that this is only MY taste in wheels & tires, & would not believe for a minute, that anyone thinks that I truly have set the standard for the rest of youse to emulate...:rolleyesg
I am confident there will be many, many VX'ers out there following my lead,(or NOT) for those searching for a 33/12.50x20" tire.
Again, the Nitto Mud Grappler in 33/12.50x20" is the pinnacle of OFFROAD tires in that specific size catagory, with absolutely no competitor matching its specifications data....

I HAVE SPOKEN!........... ....
