Yep... we build one, called BA-64, almost 70 years ago, back in 1942...

Here is the proof:

- limited edition:
1942 - 2.486
1943 - 1.800
1944 - 3.000
1945 - 868
Total - 9.910 ever made

- AWD system

- initially designed by foreign firm (Eisenwerken Weserhütte)

- tons of modifications, each BA-64 was pretty much unique:
* different armor upgrades (skidplates??)
* machine gun upgrades (incl. the massive heavy-caliber DShKM 12.7 heavy machine gun, for those who know ;))
* wheels and tires upgrades (including metal railroad wheels and caterpillar belts)
* capacity upgrades to convert to armored infantry carrier (similar to 4-door VX)

- still doubtful?? LOOK AT THE PICTURES!!!!!

All you guys who attend the University of Kentucky (UK) need to seriously lay-off the vodka!!!:bgwb:

If you had attended the University of Kentucky, like I did, then you would know that the drink of choice is Bourbon, not Vodka (and yes all UK students drink too much Bourbon).

That aside, where their body panels made with ceramic dies? Did they have fancy KYB racing shocks?

I think Not!

The BA-64 could definately be a VX prototype

The swedish Volvo looks more like a Hudson or a Packard

Germans built it first, back in 1935. SdKfz 221

I don't have any reliable data on total production of all the 221/222/223 variants but it was roughly 2118 total.

I'd post pics but can't figure out how:wtfo2:

The functional purpose of the VX was multiple surface type, high speed cornering capability. This was made possible by three inovations linked together. Full-time AWD Torque on Demand, which was rear wheel biased. That was unique. Second, external expansion chamber shocks. Third, dual mode transmission linked with the first two advancements. It had 4High and 4Low modes. The total package was functionally revolutionary. Hang onto yours, they will be worth something as automotive firsts someday, soon.

1150 Wow this picture really thru me off. I thought Marlin had finished his Mods (painted his VX) and was driving by to dubs to show it off.:smilewink The shovel on the right front is a nice addition too.
Also did ya notice the guy jumping in the jeep. VX's have that effect.

Ah yes, I have been away on the project, the garage is being epoxied, which has a one week cure time, so two weeks while doing each half one at a time...I am bored out of my mind.

The side by side pics from Bart, very enlightening, that thing looks a lot like a VX. Of course, I look at some of the older santa fe's and think the same thing, the flared fenders, rounded body lines...just my opinion.

I bet the Russian version had drink holders...and comfy arm rests on the door, and you can bet your ace that it has more than one way to open the top turret access...

So,all I need is some extra VX badges, and that makes it a VX? No way, that is like saying that the "Trail Rated" badge on a Jeep means its actually "trail rated".
Nope, it is just a fancy sticker. :bwgy:

Thanks, I got it sorted out. Just didn't have time to find all the right links this morning before work.

Anyone ever seen these? Daimler Ferret, ex NATO scout cars. There's a company in Colorado that mods them to make them street legal, they cost somewhere around $15k. Doesn't look like a VX, I know, but still pretty cool. I think I could put a "trail rated" badge on this and not get sneered at.:yeso:
