View Full Version : Help me pick a seat cover color

I'm considering purchasing a set of the Okole seat covers, but can't decide whether I want them in a wine color to try and match the Foxfire, or a regular gray color that would be less likely to clash. I'm pretty sure they won't accept returns (although they will send you color swatches in advance) so it's critical to not make a mistake.

It's pretty easy to picture the gray ones since they'll look exactly like the black/gray color scheme of the OEM seats. Here's a very rough look at what the wine color scheme would look like (I used the eye-dropper tool to extract the exact color from their website, so it's fairly accurate). For some reason the thumbnail thingy cuts off the top and bottom, so click on the pic to see the full seat in my gallery.

Thoughts, opinions? Looking for lots of responses on the poll, and if there's anybody out there with a Foxfire who's attempted this, pics would be outstanding!

i think that with a color like that, if you dont get it really close...its gonna look like crap...

No doubt, that's why I'm going to order a color swatch first. Although, if you look at the guys who did the yellow seat covers on their Protons, the colors don't match too closely but they still look really good (IMHO).

I'm wit da kid...two zip in the poll...:smilewink

The yellow/proton works because there is no "sparkle" in colours like white, yellow, black, etc.
The tonal differences of a metalflake type paint (foxfire, dragon, astral, etc.), which are dependent on lighting, could make even a good match look bad in certain lighting conditions...my two cents worth.

Good point, metallic flakes could definitely cause a problem. I definitely think it wise to order a color swatch and compare it in multiple lighting conditions as you suggested.

from Okole is really close it is more of a light and reflection difference than color

So this thread gets 72 hits but only 4 votes?!? Come on now, it's hard to get a group opinion with only 4 votes (not to mention we're tied 2-2 right now).

I vote black/gray unless after getting the swatch you verify the colors match almost or totally perfect.

I don't think much of us would drop a vote right now.
Does any one want to be guilty if VT_maverick doen't like the outcome ?.
I personally will look for covers that match more the interior (in your case gray/black) than the exterior.
If you go for the wine/black covers which i feel more inclined for you should think about how would them look with the door panels. You'll have to actually paint the panels to match 100% the covers if you are very concern about it

Voting here is like having sex with a date who may have had an extra glass of wine. She may regret it later but you have fun

No worries, I'm not weak minded enough to fall for your Jedi mind tricks. :p Just looking for additional points that I may not have thought of. (We're tied 5-5 again btw)

I'll try to order color swatches today and take pics of them against the paint for you guys to see. Stay tuned...
