PV Identification

Hi there all!

I purchased a NOS powervault muffler from the guy who sold his supercharger on ebay a few months back. I am just now getting around to putting it on. But before I take it to the muffler shop to be welded on I had a couple questions I hope some of you all might have answers to.

The guy said that this is a "prototype" model PV. From what I have been able to glean off of the site via the search function it appears to have the dimensions of a pv2 (15" long 2.5" on one side 3" on the other), but doesnt look like the one etlsport has pics of in his gallery, nor does it have pv etched on the side. There is also a second piece that looks like a cone with 2.5" in/out that I am assuming is the "wheezeanator" tip although it is straight through, no resonators present.

I have some pics that I just took on my cameraphone that will probably explain what it looks like better, I would just like confirmation that it is the muffler and tip, and should be installed as such, or if it is some kind of one off two-piece prototype pv. I just don't want to install it wrong and blow out a cat due to ignorance :confused:

If anything there are a few more pictures of the now extinct muffler for refrence.

Yeah I pretty much just took his word that this was a prototype version of the PV since he had so many other hard to find vx stuff (rack/basket, sc, a production model pv2, hot shot intake, and headlight/taillight covers) maybe his memory was faulty and I bought a standard glass pack? sure hope not.:(

I cant speak of what it is, but is not the PV 1 proto. John Finnell, the maker of PV fitted the PV 1 proto on my truck which is still there today.

Well needless to say I am nervous about installing this on my truck, being that It doesn't have any resemblance to any other PV I have seen. Plus I am not sure what to do with that second piece that might be critical to set up either on the fore or aft of the muffler. Ill take it to the muffler shop and play dumb and see if they have any advice. :confused:

So everything else being ruled out this is either a PV ver. 2 prototype or a standard glasspack with some sort of weird looking tip. As stated before there are no markings anywhere on either piece but the fab work looks both hand worked and very well done.

Maybe Tone will see this thread and chime in, he may be the only one that knows offhand what I have gotten myself into. I saw in old posts that John Finnel was located in garden grove, which is about 5 miles away from me. Of course that was five years ago so who knows? I would love to ask him in person if anyone knows how to contact him.

Thanks Anita and Etlsport for your input! I saw that pic of the pv2 in etl's gallery but had not seen that one of the pv1, just the one in tone's gallery with the sound clip link.
