Well I am retared trying to replace my head lights and the metal snap thing that hold them in place fell off so while trying to screw it down I apparently pushed waaay too hard and well hole went all the way through the head light OH JOY! So I am going try try and call Merlin on monay see if I can get a new head light or I will rig something up because only thing that is going to stop me from going to moab is me losing a leg and I dont see that happening anytime soon.

So if anyone has a spare drivers side headlight they dont mind parting with I would apreciate it. I will pay whatever I need to to get it... except that arm and a leg because I have become attached to them.

Also if I cant get a headlight in time anyone ahve suggestions on a temp fix. If need pictures will take them and post them later. I have to go back outside to do some more work on the vx.

thanks again.

Sounds like a fine time for Duct Tape!

Try to take a pic and post it.
I'm sure there are enough duct tape and epoxy mechanics here to maybe give you a reasonable solution...

Would a good glop of silicone/epoxy do for a few months until you get a reasonable option for a replacement???

I've had good results using a combination of plastic epoxy & steel.

You will have to remove the headlight, drill a small hole through the broken tab(lengthwise, on the skinny plane, use a vice), then hold the tab in place(where it was before it broke) & drill the hole through the headlight housing.
Then find a wire brad or small finish nail(or paper clip or ?) that will fit the hole you drilled, "dry fit" the parts together, cut the nail to length so it doesn't protrude into the housing, then mix up the epoxy, coat the broken surfaces & the nail with epoxy, & assemble. Use the extra epoxy (there is always extra) to build up around the break & let it dry for 10-12 hrs.
If you want to get really fancy, you could incorporate fiberglass cloth into the build up around the break, & saturate that with the epoxy too.

If that doesn't work, maybe a small bungee would be an option?:_wrench:

www.car-parts.com has around 20 driver side headlights for the Vx listed starting at 75.00 and going to 200.00 for a new one. Hope that helps

When i get home tonight I'll check on the spare unit I have ( can't remember which side it is) But I know the lens is no good ( got it from a member cleaning out his closet ). I was going to do a Caddy HID fab, But haven't got around to it yet so the main structure should be ok to use with your lens. I'll be home around 6pm cst..Then I'll PM ya...

Its cool thanks for checking. Actally the rubber boot that is there has been keeping it in place plenty fine for now, but will need to come up with something more permanent.
