You'll like those MTR's. They are a little pricey but work really good on the trail. What size did you get?

pbkid
04/26/2008, 08:36 AM
i could only afford 31's so ill be a little small on the shoes but i think they will keep me up with the rest of the group....
the only thing im worried about with them is how fast they are gonna wear???

does anyone have any idea what type of wear they have?
but yea im excited for the MTR's they are supposed to be GREAT tires....

Pictures speak louder than words ;)

I really want to see how you went with the deck installation.

Come on now...by now you should know size doesn't matter!:naughty: I am running the 31x10.5's also. Can't tell you about the wear...mine are only on for off road trips. But they grip well under almost all conditions.

[QUOTE=pbkid;125549] but i think they will keep me up with the rest of the group....QUOTE]

If they have tread at ALL, they'll be a big improvment over the last tires I saw you wheel...:rotate:

MTR's are rated to wear fast but I know a fellow offroader that has them on his LandRover Denfender and they have lasted him longer and are about at half life.

yea i think the VX will look and perform a little different than last time you guys saw me
if your going to moab you will see the deck install, if not i can post up some pics for guys who are curious about 2-din decks....
basically i didnt want to lose my vents so i decided i would rather be without a cigarette lighter and ashtray since i will NEVER use those....
so i ended up putting it down low by the shifter.....
it sticks out a little but i think it turned out to be a good install......

ok here's the rest...theres a few of the tires and a few of the deck...

i know the deck sticks out a little bit but im building a fiberglass dash to go around it so it looks like its made to go there....

i think it looks good all in all...i just dont know what to put in the stock stereo location, maybe a pocket? a little boring but it might fill the hole for now....

how about the alpine DIN sized speaker?

Thmstec
04/28/2008, 06:25 PM
nice job mounting the pioneer. I'm in the process of installing a similiar unit (avic d3). I'm having some problems with getting it wired properly :( . What did you do for the ground?

pbkid
04/28/2008, 07:26 PM
wired it to a bolt underneath of the glove box...its metal on metal 10mm i believe...

take the glove box out and you will see it on the left right near where i mounted my unit....

and i wasnt aware that alpine made a din sized speaker but thats definately a possibility....

Clarion also makes a din sized center channel... Good stuff...

I think I'm going to order the Pioneer Avic-Z3 in the next day or so... But I'm probably going to loose vents in the process... we'll have to see what I decide once I tear into it.

Then which ever din goes unused I'm going to put a ScanGauge II, Looks like it'll end up being a priceless accessory.

Hi,
I have had my MTRs on for over 50k miles and drive primarily on the street, partially off road... They still have about 1/2 to 3/4 tread left! NO dry-rot either (and I'm in the desert!). They are a bit noisy, but the Flowmaster covers that  ... They do GREAT in any situation/terrain. Never got stuck, even in deep sand.

great, i got em on now and i cant barely hear em, but thats probably between the stereo and the exhaust :bwgr:

thats good to hear that you like the MT-R's because i know i spent all my savings on them and i was hoping i wasnt gonna have to buy more like next year....

At first they sound like All Terrains, then after about 15k miles, the noise will get louder. (not bad though). Just don't try to talk on the cell while on the highway... they won't be able to hear ya!

yea im actually really happy with the wheels...i spent $10 per wheel and they are super easy to get tires for and they are really tough, i've beat the crap out of em and they dont dent or scratch for anything...

next step is to get them powdercoated black so they look a little better....
