View Full Version : So I.....

First do not have much energy to type much....and it is hard to concentrate on the computer screen...
Beacuase.

I totaled my fiance's Mustang this past Sunday in a wreck that resulted in me as the only passenger (driver) being hit on the highway by someone in a truck that pulled out in front of me. The nose of the stang went under the bed of this truck straight to the rear axle and took the axle with it. The axle completely fell off the truck and the bed laid on the highway.

To make things short since I am struggling to do this even with the pain meds.
I have thus far.
Fractured my spine C5 near the neck.
Sprained my neck, hip, right knee and ankle
Torn my MCL in left knee
Dislocated my right shoulder (I broke my left humorous off in 2002 snowboaring)
Dislocated my right clavicle
Jammed multiple ribs
Multiple contusions mainly internal around the ribs, spleen, hip, shoulders
Trauma to my liver, gallbladder, spleen (the extent will be tested once again tomorrow at a specialist)

They say I am lucky to be alive, lucky to be walking (C6 controls paralyasis and breathing, what C.Reevs broke), and that I am dealing with the pain well.

I am in a neck brace and walk with a limp....

Thats a case of the suck. Been there, done that. I know how you feel.

A good lawyer can at least get the legal stuff off of your plate and off your mind. Let him worry about the mess and you worry about getting healed up. Good luck.

Glad to hear you're still with us. I know you're in pain, but you'll get past it. I was riding a sportbike 5 years ago, and lost an argument with a groundhog. I've got a fair amount of metal holding me together, but I healed up faster than I thought I would, and you will, too. Just try to let the drugs do their work..............

Thanks to all.....Sorry for being short...In slightly more pain than ever.....

My MRI was today but the radiologist was not in so I will not know due to the holiday the true final outcome untill wensday. I have a follow up test on Monday to be ran on my organs. The sphleen, liver and (gal)bladder are not operating to specs. Also it has aggravated my migraines that I have in similar nature to scott. In fact I was to get tested next month for the same procedure he went through. I dont remember what all I said in my first post (too drugged to read it) but once again thank you all.

I just had to get online. I am a fighter when it comes to injuries and absolutely hate sitting around. So the least I could do was attempt to get online and check this site out in hopes of finding the window fix issue video - to conveince me to purchase the brackets.

To all who advised that a good lawyer is needed. That is never a problem for me.... My dad a well known lawyer here in the Kentuckiana area and is more fuled than ever to take a case......(Im a pre law student as well)

Car for the fiance wise...I wanted to get her into an AXIOM but that might not happen. SHe is budgeting in the under $10,000 range. She midly cares about gas mileage. She wants a sunroof and leather is possible. She like autos from the bigger explorer (to feel powerfull i think) to the Jetta or Mazda 6, but is having troubles on finding one she likes with low enough mileage...I am trying my best but I am not at my best. So far we saw a Saab 2003 9-3 with 50K on the clock for roughly 9k? Open to suggestions. I will tell her to check this thread too....

Thank you all again....

Hang in there! As for the fiance's car, find her an '04 Axiom (Direct Injection) in 2WD and you may make her happy in both the budget and mileage department.

I think I've had all of those injuries, plus the ribs puncturing the lung. But not at the same time!
The Back injury and nerve damage can be slow to heal, I had to clump along for a few months, not able to control my foot for a while. I still remember the sci-fi dreams from pain, meds, and lack of sleep.
The good news, I don't even give it much thought these days. It will get better :grino: Sounds like you are keeping your spirits high, hang tough.:luck:

No saab????? What would be your choices? This is his fiance speaking.Yeah, I got caught. Saab idiosyncrasies get very expensive, very quickly...ie. replacing/reprogramming a lost keyfob runs around a grand!! Mazda 3's and 6's handle great, are reliable, and run efficiently....leave the Rotary for the gearheads. The Nissan Altima we bought in '03, has provided 70,000 problem free miles so far...only oil changes. There is always, the soulless but utterly dependable Camry, and my personal favorites (for commuting duties) the Civic or Accord. I currently race Mazda's, and have piloted Nissan's in the past, so I am a bit biased, but the above vehicles are the models my experience has shown to be the most dependable, and easy to work on. Take good care of our John:thumbup::luck:

Sorry to hear about the accident. The injuries suck, but having a pickup truck sitting in your lap could have resulted in a lot worse! Glad to hear that you made it through - get the rest you need and resist the temptation to do more than you should before the doctors tell you it's OK! Keep us posted on your recovery!

Wow, so sorry to hear about the accident man... Keep up the fight and get better real soon.

As for the replacement car, it might be tough for under $10k, but I'd look for a used Jetta or Passat TDI (diesel). Comfort and luxury on the well loaded ones are comparable (in my opinion) to much more expensive vehicles and fuel mileage and reliability are excellent. Even with the soaring fuel prices these days, diesel is still the more economical option, and if they go much higher, biodiesel will be an even better option (last I checked it retailed for $3.25 - 3.50 /gal).

......Thanks to all that wished me well.....

Untill recently I had my fiance type for me.

I have had numerous MRI's, catscan and all the such over the past two weeks.
Thus far the verdict now is I have seven consecutive Cspine vertebrae in a combination of fractured/dislodged/rubbing the one above and below and more. A cleared MCL havent gotten word on the ACL and other ligaments. Knee cap is under alot of pain so I had a more specific x-ray of it as well. I sprained my hips and multiple ribs, jammed 6 ribs, strained my sternum and sprained my right ankle. So I have a bad left knee and bad right ankle, walking is fun but I have been out and about since then (home depot) to be exact. I have aggravated alot of pre-existing problems too from when I busted off my humorous snowboarding..... I have also had numerous test run on my organs to make sure they are performing. Thus far I have serious signs of liver damage and such....

I have been to work/school since March 16th and will hopefully return on April 7th but have not been yet cleared to drive.

As for the car.....Not sure what has been said yet. But we got enough out of her car to pay it off and use $1,000 of it to put towards a honeymoon (cruise to Bahamas) and $2,000 as a down payment on a 2002 Explorer .
