Just want to say HI and new to the site. New to the
VX world too.
What Im not new to is the aftermarket accessory world.
Ive had a performance shop here in Tucson since 1990
and do accessories for all types of cars and suvs.
Not sure how far Im going to go with my VX but if anyone
is having trouble finding aftermarket products, feel free to
email me.
We sell Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Green Filters, R1 Rotors,
Classic Leather, Wheelskins, HID headlight conversions,
diamond plate metal floormats, dashkits, spiderlites, LED bulbs
and Cepek wheels and several other things for these VXs.

Other then that, its nice to be here and hope to be around
for a while.

thanks

Az,

Welcome to the family. Hope you enjoy your experience with the VX and with this forum.

A good source for aftermarket goodies is always a blessing so welcome indeed.

We'll be looking forward to any updates concerning your 'project' VX.

If its any help, you can see what we did for the
Subaru Svx community

www.planetsvx.com

one thing we are going to try to do first are some
pure silicone upper and lower radiator hoses for the Vx
among other things like air intakes etc...

Hey, and welcome.

I would love to see some custom fit diamond plate rubber floor mats, and better yet, a custom diamond plate rubber mat for the cargo area when the back seats are removed. ;)

if you can find a nice clean Svx, jump on it :)
Ive had aprox 3 or 4 in the last 8 yrs. And always
have one on hand as a daily driver.
Some items Im compiling for the VX already are:
Drop In Green Air Filters
Short ram cone replacement Green filter kits
Magnaflow simple weld in style Performance Mufflers
(in most cases, we have noticed going to larger pipe only
hurts low end torque and not necessary)
A variety of stainless quaility weld on exhaust tips.
Cross drilled slotted rotors all around
Ceramic Raybestos and or Hawk brake pads
Plug and Play HID headlight conversions in 5k and 6k
steel braided stainless brake line kits
Overlay dashkits in stainless, carbon or ?
Metal custom fit floor mats
H3 Yellow Foglight bulbs
XCS Voltage Stabilizers
Wheels
oh and an exclusive product not available anywhere else
WRC and Govt vehicle inspired Pure Silicone upper and lower
radiator hoses (available in 4 colors)
and more Im sure..

Our retail stores been open here in Tucson since 1990..
our Svx store since 2002. I really enjoy seeing others who
want to personalize their vehicle, be able to as easy as possible.

Not sure how far Im going with my 99 Astral Silver
but you can bet Ill be testing the stuff out on mine first
before I put it out there for sale.

thanks for the warm welcome..

A proper fitting, light weight replacement for the way too heavy hood insert. This is something you could sell a few of....quality clear lenses would be another. Sounds like you are more of an accessory and bolt on store, than fabrication/speed shop, but things like tow hitches, and brush guard mounts are two other areas alot of owners show interest in. For me....I'm not the twinkly lights, chromed shiny geegaw bolt on type.... I want it to be lighter, go faster, stop quicker, and handle better. Prebent silicone hoses will be welcome tho. Welcome to the cult:p

We sell parts and do on site installation.
We try to sell stuff thats profitable of course
and try to have something for everyone. But it
has to be cost effective at the same time.
That or the price of the part will be so high, no one will
buy it.
I have a friend with a machine shop who is
a fabricator. He can build anything we want.

Enlighten me on the hood insert you are referring to.
Im not aware of it.

Does anyone make Nerf bars or side bars for the VX ?

ummmm...you have a '99 Astral, but don't know what the hood insert is?? only the one most obvious feature on the VX not found on any other production vehicle....ever...as far as I can remember.

Correct, I do have a 99 Astral, sorry only have had it 4 days.
My insert other then being a little faded, didnt look bad to me.
All the plastic around the body seemed to have similar appearance
from being 8 yrs old.
The "insert" you referred to could of been structural Under the hood
as well as on top, ..give me just a little break.;)

We can do CF but I dont suggest it.
They look cool for a few month, but they all come clearcoated.
The reflexion off the clear alone would be a bad side effect.
Also
Ive been selling CF hoods for over 7 yrs and seen what they
look like after about a yr in the sun.
They ALL turn yellow and some eventually crack no matter
who makes them.
I sell Vis racing, Seibon and a few other manufacturers. If you want
something that will stand the test of time for looks, CF isnt the answer.
Its really meant for weight savings and strength.

Vinyl holds up well in the sun and cheap to replace in a few yrs
if it came down to it. Lots of options there.
Ill work on some other options this week.

Wow, your plastics are beat! There are a few good spray on, urethane products out there for that. A very thin Rhino Liner if you will. Or shoot it like the Avalanches. Avalanche repair search will yield several things

I have a complete new set for all around the vehicle
I picked up from the dealer sitting in boxes in storage.

I have a few ideas for the plastic
Ive heard everything from using Pledge, Futura floorwax
to a realtively new product called Gatorback.
Im going to check with a friend in town who has a paint shop
too and get his opinion.
Its a restoration in progress, but look forward to driving it.
Not sure Ill be offroading much, even for being in Az.

Welcome to the forum...

I've had a scooped CF insert for a couple years now and is still looking good (I do remove it a couple months out of the year due to the Illinois winters) and I just painted my stock insert with a durable Satin texture, and your cladding might need alittle elbow grease. I use Meguiar's NXT but do a search here, there are many members with great results with many products.

You'll be missing out on one of the best aspects of the VX! Guaranteed...one trip to Moab for ZuZoo and you'll be a convert!

Well if and when something comes up locally here
in Tucson or surrounding area, lmk.
Ive been here 20 yrs so I know most of the areas but
havent had a 4x4 for yrs.
I was actually thinking about lowering mine about 2" from
stock for something different and add some 17 or 18" wheels
and less off road style tires.

You want the filter down low under the fenderwell ?
You risk the chance of sucking up water if you off road
event thru deep water.
Short ram wont be a problem, but if you wanted longer
we can build it.
Ill only do it from the mass air flow sensor forward.

The Gatorback product is the one I bought, a few weeks back. It's just a couple hundred bucks to do the entire VX. I shot a hunk of Rav4, just to check it out first....looks great....shoots easy....and won't pull off- it's there for good, like a Rhinoliner almost, just really thin. At some point, I'll strip the cladding off, and shoot it. Painting the stuff shouldn't be any problem, as long as it is prepped right. Plenty of adhesion promoter, and a good raw surface. Stone chips will be another matter. The Gatorback is MUCH more resilient. If you have two sets....Line-x one and go wheeling.....man, you live in VX Disneyland!! Keep the shiny ones for dress up. Bag it....you could go up, or down. You're new( no offense) we've been kicking this !%#@! around for seven years now. I'm the one that wants to do a VQ/six speed transplant, and lose all pretenses of offroadability.....dump the torsion bars, 4x4, and pretty much everything but the body. I am in the extreme minority, and will not do this to 0177.....a beat up donor....well it's time to chop;) Check out my gallery...we build a few a year. Right now, it's a '54 Ford pickup (customer car) We're considering another SEMA car. I'll be haunting "Turkey Rod" in Daytona all weekend....looking for inspiration.

Ralley racing and Govt vehicles for yrs have been using
pure silicone radiator hoses on their vehicles.
Much better then rubber, will last pretty much a lifetime
and wont break.
Companys such as SAMCO makes them overseas and only
for a few applications.
I did a custom order for the Subaru Svx owners, and they
loved them.
Im working on getting them made for us VX owners.
They will fit exactly like OE hoses, and come in gloss black, red
or blue. (maybe silver too, not sure)
They will be the last radiator hoses youll have to buy :)
