Is it just mine or does everyones VX drive forward at idle.

This is first car i have had that pulls so hard at idle. All of my previous cars would actually begin to slide backwards down my steep driveway while in drive but the VX actually tries to keep climbing.

Today on a flat parking lot I was driving forward at 4mph at idle. NO gas.

Mine does the same and so have all my cars to different degrees. If your cars rolled backward when in gear they definately had a problem

What do you expect it was a Chrysler??? But my firebird does slightly. My driveway is probably 35-38 degree incline where you have to park to open the gate to the parking space.

It's a good thing. go with it.

How many RPM's are you turning? (In Neutral, and in Gear)

750 normal idle

Mine doesn't really pull, it will roll away on a slight incline, but idle is probably like ten mph.

I think it's the low gearing. Most other mid size trucks have 3.73 gears or higher it seems. I have been in fullsize trucks with 4.10's and stock tires and they have a slight pull. Our stockers are 4.30's and I run the 4.77's so imagine how much more brake pressure it takes to keep the beast still. That's my theory anyway.

yeah my vx wants to run, if i dont pay close attention to brake pressure my vx will try to run away! my normal idle in summer is about 720-750.. during winter around 800.. when in park or neutral.. 900-1000

It's NORMAL for all vehicles with Automatic transmissions to "creep forward" when you take your foot off the brake.

Well yeah, of course; but the topic is with how much more authority the VX "creeps" when compared to other autos. Not every automatic equipped vehicle will move forward on an incline like the VX will.

The torque converter engages at a pretty low RPM. It takes some getting used to, but on this hilly island I love it!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents and say that my VX also creeps forward at idle..and does so with some vigour too! I think its normal...

Ditto all the above "normal" responses. Its a function of the gearing and how low the torque converter engages (it was made for 4wd afterall). I've taken to putting it in neutral at stoplights just so I can relax my brake foot (whew!).

I just checked out my forward speed at idle, and on level ground I was able to finally active 5 mph. Not very speedy and certainly well within my ability to hold the brake at traffic lights.

just a cool little tip... last night i was stuck in traffic for about an hr and a half (GAH!) and in my boredom started playing with the vx... in stop and go traffic.. winter mode is awesome!! the idle doesnt pull nearly as hard so you can very easily keep up with the stop and go without having to hit the brakes every 2 seconds since the vx pulls so much harder than most cars at idle... biggest problem was that after 45 min of that i realized my winter mode was still on.. which meant i hadnt broken 20mph yet
