View Full Version : Debadged the Beast, but....

Ok, I have successfully debadged the beast, but I still have some residue from the glue and an outline of VehiCROSS on the sides and ISUZU on the back. I have taken WD-40 to all of it, gently, and less gently rubbed it, but to no avail. Haven't hurt the paint, yet..

Any thoughts as to how to get rid of the residue?

i got spray on bug and tar remover and wiped it with LOTS of elbow grease with a microfiber cloth, took maybe 15 min per emblem

...then strip the paint with a good paint cleaner, clay bar it, add polish, then wax....

should be good.

biju is right- go invest in a clay bar

Clay bar is the way. That is what I used to get rid of all the sticky. The clouding won't go away though for some time. I STILL have a little clouding on the sides, but I still have yet to get a pro wax job done....

I have always just used adhesive remover with great results.

I tried both the bug and tar remover and adhesive remover but got no where. I ultimately got a clay bar. Apparently they have a new Liquid clay bar system now.

I have never even heard of a clay bar?

Yeah, before I debadged I had no idea what a clay bar was either. Pretty much every auto parts store will have one. Mine came in a little kit. It takes a little time to use, but it did remove all the residue for me.

You're not spending NEAR enough time at AutoZone! I want you to start your regimen with twice a week visits for 15 minutes at a time. Buy some fuses or something small. Go back for a flashlight. First quiz will be in early August.

LOL... funny.

yeah, a claybar is really neat - makes your paint really smooth, clean, etc.

Ok, claybar. Great! Never heard of it, but thanks. Looks like my VX and I are on for another date this weekend.

If this works well, my RAM 2500 might be next. On second thought, there is just something about the silver letters/numbers against all that maroon sheet metal that makes my heart go pitty pat just thinkin' about it!

I left my residue on for the winter so that the salt from the roads could eat it away. Then in the summer used windex and a paper towel... came right off.

I haven't heard of the clay bar in a long time.
You guys are starting to show your age.

When i took my isuzu sight on my back i just buffted the back and wax it. Now looks like nothing ever been there.
