There will be a ROAD RALLY (http://www.iceracing.homestead.com/) to support the Ice Racing at Georgetown put on by Our Gang 4 Wheelers on June 7th.

This sounds like a good time, and something worthwhile to kill a Saturday with. We should plan to go and have a strong representation from the vehicross.info contingency.

Even if you dont go ice racing, you should still come out and play for the day, could be a worthwhile adventure.

I received the reply I had been awaiting:

-------------------------------------------------
> What is a road rally?
A road rally is similiar to a scavenger hunt. The drivers of the vehicles are given clues and/or directions and they drive from one location to another. The first group/person to reach the finish location is the winner.

> What does it consist of?
1. Figuring out the clues and following directions
2. Arriving at each checkpoint location before
proceeding to the next
3. Being the first to arrive at the final checkpoint

> What format will this event be?
We'll base the winners on mileage, length of time, answers to questions and finding all checkpoints.
Like I said above.

> Where will the course be going?
The route is 100 miles. Approximately 2 to 2 1/2
hours and the "scenery" will change (hint: city to country) Instructions will be given at Registration. All of us didn't need to fill up on fuel during the
course, it shouldn't be a problem.

> How much time?
The course will be 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Then we'll have lunch and the award presentation after for another hour or two.

> Vehicle/equipment restrictions?
Any street legal vehicle can participate. There are no other restrictions.

> More Info:
Rhonda said it would be easier to have someone to help the driver if possible. A navigator/spotter in addition to the driver.
Also, we'll be putting the driver's license in an
envelope to make sure everybody follows traffic rules (no cutting across private land, no speeding, etc...).
If the envelope is opened for any reason before the final checkpoint, the vehicle will be disqualified.
The entry fee includes lunch for everyone in the
vehicle which will be served at the final checkpoint.
There are prizes for the top 3 finishers and a drawing for door prizes too.

-------------------------------------------------

Sounds like a fun time and good way to support winter activities. I will be there, and we will have a blast! Hope to see you all there...

What kind of Rally is that? The reason I own a VX is to speed and cut accross private property. ;) A 100 mile race sounds cool though! :)

There are a lot of Rallys in Texas scheduled this year. The next is:

Howdy all,

Mark your calendar for a day of fun -- June 7th. Champions of the Rally
Cause, Richard and Juanita Miller have put together a rally with a
destination -- Paris, TX. Originating at Starbucks in Rockwall, TX, the
rally is about 3 hours to the destination. I understand the roads are good
enough for even an ancient Morgan to traverse without fear. (Without
concern for the road surface that is. Morgan drivers have enough to concern
themselves with without worrying about roadways. ;-)

Once in Paris, you can view some antique cars and grab some lunch before
heading home. Get the particulars from the rallytexas website. The flyer
is available there and in the files section of the texas region rallycross
mail list. Entry is a paltry $25 and open to everyone. Come on out --
support the Texas Region Rally Group.

(I've taken to using Mr. because my name tends to mislead folks on the WWW.
I am a 47 year old fat man ;-)

The Houston SCCA group also has a website you can check.
