A disaster just happened on my computer!
Outlook Express was compacting the messages on my hard drive when there was a power surge. Later when I restarted my computer, all of my email messages from the past year had been wiped out! I don't know how to get them back. Please help me, if anyone has any ideas. Thanks.

Other than doing a forensic on the hard drive, perhaps try a system restore to the day before this happened.

It would help to know the OS version you're running in order for us to provide the proper recovery instructions?

I have not ever used any of these tools/steps (I use Linux/Thunderbird) but, I guess you do not have much to loose at this point...

You should be able to restore to the last archive if you are in Outlook - there will be an archive pst. That'll get you most of your older emails. Or if you use Outlook Express there should be a .bak file that will be your backup there.
