I was just wondering if anybody on this forum has a VX with an Axiom engine?

Discussed MANY times - if you are willing to swap out the entire wiring harness as well....

i know it has been discussed but, are there motors that can be swapped without too much modding?

I'll do it tomorrow and post all the data if somebody else buys me a donor Axiom ;)

The swap I really want is the Aisin manual transmission, though. That's the only thing I really wish my VX had. I assume there was no manual option on the Axiom, though ...

Can't say how many times our '04 Axiom almost went to its new home with a significant mileage disparity on its drivetrain. ;)

No, no manual option on an Axiom. Part of the allure in a complete GM transplant on one of these older ones. Just that their sixes suck and their small eights are a bit heavy. Pull all the awd stuff and the scales balance a bit better.

Yeah, too bad GM never made an all-aluminum 3800. I really like that engine and even have a Series II from a Camaro sitting in the garage. I bought it intending to replace the Series I I transplanted into my S-10, but never got enough round tuits. Perhaps if the 3.5 ever goes I'll look for an aftermarket aluminum 3800 block.

Back in the ITOG days there was a relatively successful installation of a Vortec V6 into a 1st-gen Trooper. Personally I'm not a big fan of GM products, but if it's what ya like to wrench on then more power to ya. ;)

I hear you Tobert. I had a supercharged 3.8 in a Pontiac SSEi and it hauled and it was a heavy car (3450#) and just alittle over 200hp but it would really wake up the VX. I've had more than one GM mechanic tell me they thought the 3.8 was one of the best if not the best engine GM ever made.
