...so I'm filling up on my way home from work. Dude walks up to the front of the VX.

Dude: "Damn man, this thing is sweet!"
Me: "haha, thanks man"
Dude: "What is it?"
Me: "Its an Isuzu VehiCROSS....2001"
Dude: "4 Wheel Drive?"
Me: "Yup, all wheel drive with 4 low"
Dude: "Does it have one of those special shifters?"
Me: (with a wtf look on face) "Ummm, its automatic"
Dude: "Sweet man, do you know where I could score some weed around here?"
Me: "haha, sorry man, I haven't touched that sh1t since college"
Dude: "OK man, laters"

Just thought I'd share that....

Time for beer,

Bart

thats too funny. I had a "incident" the other day when I had to go to the feed store/farm supplies to get some feed for our horse. Now keep in mind I am by no means a redneck and the only reason I have a horse is for the wife and daughter, however there are rednecks everywhere down here, especially outside the city. So i was looking around at the stuff on the shelves, pretty much cause usually the wife picks up the horse stuff so basically it was my first time in a feed/farm supplies store and I was a lil curious. In the background I am listening to the two employees sharing hunting, fishing, and other stories typical of redneck conversations. Anyway I was in line at the feedstore and the guy in front of me said he was getting the same thing, so I spoke up to the guy headed toward the back of the store, "you can grab me one to, I am getting the same thing." He said "sure, which truck is yours?" I replied its the silver and black one, just set it next to it, and I'll load it." So the guy in front of me finishes up and I pay the cashier, and as I am finishing the guy with the feed walks in from the vx in the parking lot and says "I dunno what it is, but its cool." Moral of the story is even rednecks like our vx's.

I got a gas station story. So I pull up to the local Circle K here in Charlestown, Indiana; its a small town. Like always I consume a parking spot at the pump just make sure the VX does not come in the way of a Charlestinain door with the cramp parking spaces. And belive me not only are there rednecks in my neck of the woods but sorry and no offense to anyone there is very - very low income housing citizens roaming the town by car, old truck, walking shirtless or on a hover-round.

(I live near a larger city but the nearest Circle K that sells a 32oz fountian drink for $0.59 is in Charlestown. The housing is becuase during WWII temporary housing was made for the workers of the Southern Indiana Ammo Plant which happens to reside in CHarlestown to this day. After the war the houses since temporary were to be destroyed, but no they became the new and old sector of the projects of town; breif history lesson. The ammo plant does actually carry a great story and use and is a great site to see right off of HWY 62, google earth if you want it runs along the Ohio River as well.)

Back to the story. As I pull up as normal I have a few lookers but I notice this one in a bet up Chevy Celebrity with probably an Ford Escort bumper looking through the windsheild like there is frost build up at me. I think nothing of it, I go in side and probably spend 15-20 minutes in there becuase there is a SUBWAY attached and I decided to accompany my Big Gulp with an Italian BMT. So 20 minutes later the guy is stil in his car with his nose on the windsheild. I get in start the VX and the guy looks to be arguing with his wife or possibly sister (or both) jumps out of the car and waves me down. I roll down the window. His words " What n dee h3ll is dis sond of B1tch" My answer "It is an Isuzu Vehicross." Him "Well sh1t, this is the nastiest mother F***ing thing iv seen in a minute." I pull off and he stands under the pump with a face like I had known him for life and I just let him for good. The END

It is funny, that's why being de-badged is that much more fun. Its especially funny when people get it all wrong and call it a Suzuki or something.

And on the subject of Ammo Plants, I have explored the old JAAP (Joliet Arsenal and Ammunition Plant) several times. It still stands today as one of my favorite sites to explore in Illinois. Very interesting history and very cool old structures still standing there...along with some serious TICs that need to be addressed by the EPA! :)

I hate it when people tell me that my VX looks like a newer version of the RAV 4. I can't tell you how many times I have heard it, but it doesn't sit well with me. I think I just give them the look of disgust as I drive away.

oh yea that pisses me off too...i had a co worker tell me that her CRV looked like my vx the other day..and the other co worker next to her said "yea, its kinda like a minivan and suv mix"
i was very angry as you can imagine...funny thing is that her CRV broke down two weeks later...my car runs perfect =)

Um, yeah, not so much. The Rav4 is sooo boring and the Honda CRV is even worse. I have a lot more respect for Toyota from a design perspective. I don't think I have ever seen a vehicle made by Honda that looks cool. I'm sure they are good vehicles, and depreciate well, but man is Honda FUGLY...the Pilot, the Ridgeline, and even the Element makes me gag. ;puke2;

Yeah, other than the Porsche Cayenne, the Subaru Tribeca is the only other vehicle that I think looks remotely like the VX. The front end of the Tribeca is actually kinda cool looking, imho. But its still too mini-vanish and tame looking for me.

Cayenne I kinda like...but please don't compare that fugly lookin' trywrecka to a VX any more. :p

They were on the right track until they added the "pig snout" grille in the middle. ;puke:

Oh, I totally agree. I think its the VX like head lights that I like. But yeah, the grill detracts from it somehow. Makes it look awkward, just like the rest of it...

The Cayenne is much cooler, but come one, if I was going to buy a Porsche, it sure as shiz ain't gonna be a Cayenne.

:)

I had the VX out today and was sitting at a table sipping on my coffee on the sidewalk by it. I overheard 2 Asian guys walking down the sidewalk as they were looking at the VX.

Basically, one of them thought it was awesome looking, but the other one said "it looks an SUV that has down syndrome".

I wanted to beat him senseless, but he may have been the nephew of someone in the Yakuza for all I knew. ;)
